Subfolder Scanning

Not only can [info]Batcher apply changes to single files and all the files contained within a folder, but it goes a step further by allowing you to change attributes of subfolders contained within the folder you chose. These folders can be scanned down to a specified depth or even down to unlimited depth. To enable subfolder scanning you need to tick the 'Apply to Subfolders' box in the 'Batcher' tab, and choose a depth from the popup menu next to the box.

The Depth value specifies how many levels of subfolders [info]Batcher scans. For example, if the depth of 2 was selected, [info]Batcher would apply the changes to all the files down to and including level 2. In order to clarify exactly what this means please refer to the following diagram:

Note about unlimited depth:

If you select 'All' from the Depth popup menu, [info]Batcher will process all the subfolders it encounters down to unlimited depth. However, if there is a very large number of subfolders it is possible that [info]Batcher may run out of memory while trying to process all the subfolders. If this happens you will recieve an error message and the processing will be aborted. You will be able to undo all the changes that [info]Batcher did before running out of memory if you wish, by selecting Edit->Undo menu. In order to avoid this try to limit the depth of subfolders to be scanned.

Note about aliases:

While processing subfolders [info]Batcher will ignore any aliases that it comes across. This is done in order to avoid infinite loops, i.e. at depth 2 there might be an alias to the depth 0 folder, which would cause [info]Batcher not to know when to stop if the scanning depth was infinite.
